Although the world is slowly beginning to open again, we are still restricted in where we can go. Travel is complicated. Still, it is possible for you to travel around the world, virtually. There are many virtual tours available, but my favorite are the 360° variety. You can pause and look around at your leisure. Check out these 360° 10 unique virtual tours you can take today.
What makes these unique virtual tours?
Most of the tours you see online are museums, aquariums, zoos, national parks, and the like. Don’t get me wrong, those are all great. In fact, I have three posts dedicated to virtual tours of sites like that (Must-See Virtual Field Trips, 360° Factory Tours and 360°Must-See Virtual Tours ). This time, however, I wanted to find tours that were a bit different. Hence these 10 unique virtual tours, plus two drone videos that are a must-see.
1. Tour the inside of the Great Pyramid of Giza
I’ve seen tours of the outside of the pyramid, but not the inside. This is a guided, narrated tour inside the Great Pyramid of Giza.
2. Look inside two theaters
Tour the Virginia Theater, a 1921 opera house which has been fully restored. You can move to different areas of the theater and to different rooms.
When you look around Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, you can click on circles which will show pictures or video of past shows.
3. Be captivated by some castles
Windsor Castle in England is the largest working castle in the world. You can virtually visit three of the rooms in the castle and get a 360 view. See where the current queen dines and entertains.
Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany is spectacular. Air Pano produced this video, which will dominate this list. What I like about the Air Pano videos is that they include narration. Neuschwanstein Castle was the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland.
Speaking of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, you can see inside two different versions of the castle. One is in Disneyland, the other in Paris.

4. Go skydiving
Having gone skydiving myself, I enjoyed watching this 360 VR skydiving experience. You will follow along with the jumpers from the time the leave the plane, to their landing.
5. Tag along with snowboarders
After you go skydiving, go snowboarding with this Freeride at Snow Valley mountain lodge. Kamchatka. You can enjoy the thrill but stay warm and safe at home.
6. Explore a cave
You may have already gone on some cave tour virtually, but this trip is to the world’s largest cave. National Geographic offers a 360 degree tour of the Sơn Đoòng cave in Vietnam. It comes complete with sound effects. You can see many formations as you explore the world’s largest cave.
7. Gawk at pandas
Seriously, can you really get enough of pandas? On this virtual tour, you will go to the Chengdu Panda Base in China. It is a “non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals.”
8. Watch a package go on a journey
Okay, true confessions, this trip is not 360 degree. Sorry, a little false advertising. It is, however, still a unique tour. You will be guided through Amazon’s fulfillment center to watch how our packages are processed and sent out. It’s an amazing operation, and it becomes clear why Amazon is king.
9. Cross a glass bridge
As with many of the other videos I have mentioned, this was done by Air Pano. Here we will cross the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge in China. I think it’s equal parts astounding and frightening. Again, I really appreciate the narration in the Air Pano videos.
10. Travel the world
Now that you have explored many areas of the world, how about a trip around the world? Once again, Air Pano delivers on a stunning compilation video of places around the world. Unlike the other Air Pano videos, this one does not have narration. You won’t miss it however, you’ll be too busy picking your jaw off the floor looking at the magnificent sites.
Drone videos
As I mentioned before, I wanted to add two drone videos that are really must-see.
In the first video, the drone takes us through a bowling alley and adjoined movie theater. The pilot of the drone took the video in one shot. He wanted to highlight his local bowling alley as it, like all businesses, suffered losses during the pandemic.
This last video really is a jaw-dropper. Some brave drone pilot flew his drone into an erupting volcano in Iceland. The effect is stunning!
