The times, they are a-changin’. A month ago, I wrote a post called “10 Screen-free Indoor Activities.” The shelter in place mandate had just taken effect, and I wanted to help parents keep their kids off screens. Now, a month later, we rely on screens to keep us connected to others. We can also use them to take us places we can’t visit in person. With families homebound (at the time I wrote this post) due to the shelter in place order, it hopefully means families are also eating together more. When all 10 of our family members are gathered at the table, we like to play games. Earlier this month, I wrote a post about games you can play with your kids around the dinner table. Some of the games I listed required pencil and paper. The games on the list here don’t require any materials. They truly are simple games to play around the table.

Until fairly recently, our family of 10 spent every meal together. Now that the older three are working and the rest of us have various activities, time together is more scarce. My kids like to play games. The older ones are amazing at card games. My oldest son was in a hand cast and still beat me at Dutch Blitz (a version of speed). With such a wide age range, it’s sometimes difficult to find a game we can all play. Enter the drawing dice game.

When I was working on my teaching credential, I spent some time in a kindergarten classroom. It was Thanksgiving time, so the teacher had multiple stations for the kids to complete projects. One station had what I found to be the easiest pumpkin pie pudding DIY for kids. I loved the simplicity of it, as well as the taste. I hastily scribbled down the recipe for future use.

Every year I try to get more organized when it comes to Christmas shopping. With 10 in our family, it can become quite an undertaking. In addition, I have taken over the grand kid gift buying for my parents. This year, to help myself out, I created a printable Christmas wish list.
