Disney themed LEGO challenges

Are you on a quest to find things for your kids to do while you’re all on lock down? Our family is currently on week 3 of the shelter in place order with about 4 more to go (sigh). Though we already homeschool, I’m finding it’s helpful to “mix things up” a little and give the kids tasks to challenge them. LEGOs are my go-to to get my kids to think creatively. I’ve already made a 32 challenge printable you can read about here. To try something different, I made Disney themed LEGO challenges.

Why Disney themed LEGO challenges?

LEGO challenges in general are a great way to get your kids’ creative juices flowing. Disney themed LEGO challenges give you an excuse to watch Disney movies, including some classics. By classic I don’t mean “Frozen” as opposed to “Frozen 2.” I mean oldies but goodies like “Sleeping Beauty” and “Peter Pan.”

I admit I did pause before adding “Bambi” to the list. The scene in which Bambi loses his mom might be tough for some kids to watch, especially if you have a sensitive one like I did. Let me digress with a story.

My second oldest was always a compassionate kiddo. When he was about eight, he found a baby bird that had fallen from its nest. Using gloves, he put the baby back into the nest only to find it on the ground again. He put it into a box and brought it to me, wanting to take it to the animal hospital. Looking at it, I could tell it was probably headed for birdy heaven sooner than later. I suggested to let nature take its course, after all we have a lot of cats around the yard (I am heartless, I know). He was horrified. I found myself packing up the six kids I had at the time and driving 30 minutes to a wildlife museum/sanctuary. So you can see, Bambi was a no-go for that kid.

Movie Monday

Obviously, you can use the challenges any way you’d like. I suggest having your kids build while they are watching the corresponding movie. You might even want to designate a certain day for the Disney challenges, such as “Movie Monday.” With 25 different ideas, you have plenty of choices. Feel free to do one a day if you’re really feeling desperate!

By the way, have you seen the Disney LEGO You Tube “minisodes?” They are short LEGO videos summarizing Disney movies. This one is a summary of “Frozen.” They also have a four part Frozen LEGO short called “Northern Lights.”
