This week we’ll focus on one of my favorites – Ruth. Actually I am a particular fan of Boaz. I wanted to name one of my sons Boaz. Wait, scratch that. Actually, I wanted other people to name their sons Boaz. He’s a great character, and a perfect match for Ruth! Learn more about both of them in this simple Bible Lesson on Ruth.

Challenge for the kids
I had challenged the kids at our church to see Jesus in every story we cover. In the Jesus Storybook Bible, it says that “every story whispers His name.” It’s true. I had a professor that said he could preach Jesus from every book of the Bible. History is, after all, “His-story.”
With the theme of Boaz as the kinsman/redeemer, it’s easy to see Jesus in the book of Ruth.
1. Watch God’s Story on Ruth
If you are a “What’s in the Bible” fan, you can watch this “Popsicle theater” presentation on Ruth
2. Choose activities
For the younger kids:
For our 5 and under crowd, you can find free printables once again on Truewaykids.com . This lesson even manages to sneak in a little geography, which this homeschool mom appreciates.
Here you can find a “basket” craft you can make out of a paper bag. Your kiddos can collect “wheat” or whatever else they want to collect around the house.
Another basket craft can be made out of a paper plate.
For our older kids:
I thought this was very cool. It’s a printable family tree that traces Ruth and Boaz to Jesus. On the same site, you can print out and fill out your own family tree.
Other activity sheets for older kiddos:
Ruth code breaking sheets
3. LEGO (or DUPLO) challenge
I’ve decided to issue a building challenge with each lesson. Kids can use whatever building materials they have on hand.
This week’s challenge is to build a basket!
