My two youngest love to sort and match. They love to sort cards, socks (though they never wear a matching pair), crayons, you name it. Though they know their seasons, I thought it would still be fun to create this free seasons printable game to work on sorting and matching skills. To make it more versatile, I made one set (with all four seasons game boards and picture tiles) half-sized , and another set (with all four seasons) full sized, both shown below.
How to use them:
Either sized set can be used as a file folder game. Glue game boards inside a file folder. For the full-sized game boards, you will need two folders. Glue one game board on each side of the inside of the folder. Glue an envelope on the outside of the folder to house pieces, or clip a plastic baggie to the folder. You can also put the full-sized game boards in page protectors and store the pieces in there as well.
The half-sized set can fit into one file folder or be used in a “busy bag.” If you don’t know what a busy bag is, you can read about it here and find some great free printables to use.
For younger kiddos, you might want to limit the number of tiles from which he or she has to choose. You can do that by using two game boards at a time (which would give him or her sixteen tiles). For example, have your child categorize “fall” and “winter” only.
Printing and Laminating:
I recommend printing your set of choice on card stock and then laminating if possible. A great laminating trick I learned is to put two pieces of paper, back sides together, through the laminator at the same time. You just need to make sure you can trim all sides of the papers when they come out so you can separate them. Only one side will be laminated, but that usually works fine.
