Thanksgiving Worksheets for Tots through Teens

Are you already in Christmas mode? For some, once November hits, it’s time for Christmas music and movies. I however, actually look forward to Thanksgiving. Seriously, what’s not to like about indulging in lots of yummy food? As we get into Thanksgiving week, I like to give my kids some themed worksheets to add some fun to their schoolwork. In this post, I’ve compiled a list of free Thanksgiving worksheets for tots through teens. I also have some hands-on activities for all ages to enjoy.

Are there really Thanksgiving worksheets for tots through teens?

Yes! It’s a bit more difficult to find themed worksheets for the older crowd, but there are some available. If you are schooling multiple ages like I am, you can make individual packets for your kids for various subjects. This provides a little break in their regular school work schedule. To make it easier for you to browse through your options, I organized the printables by subject.

Math

Preschool sequencing activities from Preschoolplayandlearn.com are sets of cards for kids to practice putting events in the right order. They cover the following activities:

• Making an Apple Pie
• Building a Scarecrow
• Raking Leaves
• Picking Apples

I have a Seasons Printable Game for young ones to sort and match pictures to the correct season.

In my Fall alphabet and number matching printable, students will match upper case letters to lower case ones, and numbers 1-10 with pictures to match.

Kidzone.ws has Thanksgiving themed math pages for grades 1-5

Using the Turkey coordinate graph from Teachers Pay Teachers (middle school), students can plot points on a graph using coordinates. They can then connect the dots to unveil a mystery picture.

Thanksgiving Feast Budget (Teachers Pay Teachers) – Middle to high schoolers are tasked with planning a Thanksgiving dinner and keeping a specific budget.

Reading/Writing

There’s a variety of activities in this section. Some are reading comprehension activities. Others are writing prompts or copywork.

Teachers Pay Teachers has a Thanksgiving Gratitude Theme: Reading Fables, Writing which covers the theme of gratitude in Aesop’s Fables (middle/high school)

Thanksgiving Writing Prompts at Woo Jr feature color pictures in addition to writing prompts to help students begin a story.

The Year We Had Two Thanksgivings enables middle/high schoolers to write a letter for or against moving the date of Thanksgiving. Real letters can be viewed as examples.

All ages can practice their story writing skills in a fun way with my “Thanksgiving Roll-a-Story.” Students roll a dice to determine their setting (time and place), character and conflict. It’s available in my resource library.

Grammar

Hands down, my favorite entertaining way to practice grammar, is by using Mad Libs. If you have never tried one out, I highly recommend you do. Mad Libs are stories with blanks in them. The blanks are labeled with the part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) or type of word (drink, animal, color, etc.) needed to complete the story. Without looking at the story, you choose words to fill in the blanks. You add them back in to get a very funny story.

Snack crafts are a winning combination. You don’t have to worry about where to store the craft, you get to eat it! Here are some fun ideas for food activities, or “foodivities:”

Thanksgiving Story Mix from Teachers Pay Teachers uses different ingredients to tell about the first Thanksgiving.

When I was helping in a kindergarten class in my college days, I learned how to make the Easiest Pumpkin Pie Pudding. You can find the recipe in my resource library (as well as all my free printables). The thing I love about this recipe is that kids each make their own individual cup of pudding. My kids love to eat it.
